1) STAMP DUTY
Should first be paid at the Tax Office in
Girne. This is the same office as for payment of Car Tax and Licences.
It is down the road opposite the turning to the Wednesday Market and the Police
Station. Turn left just past the Fountain Roundabout heading towards the Lefkosa
roundabout. The Tax Building is a white building approx. 200 yards on the right.
Payment is now made at the shop unit on the opposite side of the road to the old
white tax office building.
Inside go to the payment office the first office on the ground floor on the
right, keep to the in the left hand queue but also check this is the one for
stamp duty only.
Requirements.
a) 2 Copies of the contract (one must be the original). The original will be
returned to you with the necessary Tax Stamp.
b) Cost is 0.5% of the contract price until the 31st March AFTER THIS DATE
THE CHARGE WILL BE 1.5% on older contracts.
Payment in Sterling or TL with Cheques accepted if drawn on a TRNC Bank.
2) REGISTRATION OF CONTRACT
The Land Registry Office is between the Post Office and the Law Courts.
Registrations are currently only being accepted from 8.30 am and 12.00 am Monday
to Friday not in the afternoons.
Requirements
a) 2 Copies of the Contract, one of which must be the original and both must
have the Tax Office Stamp.
b) 2 Copies of Passport of names on the contract. Copies of back inside page
also the page showing a current residency stamp.
c) 2 Copies of the Site Plan. This is the sheet/plan showing the site plot,
one copy to be the original stamped by the Land Registry Office the must be
highlighted in colour if not a colour copy.
d) 2 Copies of the House Plan. Internal as per the Builders layout or as
supplied by the Estate Agent.
e) 2 Copies of Form N34A. Obtained from your Lawyer or from the Land
Registry Office. This is a one page form in Turkish asking for SATAN The Vendors
Name address and Passport Details. SATAN ALAN Purchasers Name etc.
f) 2 Copies of the Declaration this is the new form in English and Turkish
and avoids on contracts before 2 Jan 2008 the need for a Turkish translation of
the contract.
The standard Charge is 44.50 TL payable in cash the correct change will help.
Contracts prior to 2 Jan 2008 must be registered by the 8th April 2008.
Translations in Turkish are required on all new Contacts from 3 March 2008
and shortened translation will be accepted on contracts signed between 2
Jan 2008
and 2 March 2008
