Expat Vote Plea

The UK Electoral Commission is urging the 59,000 expat Britons living in Cyprus to register to vote in the next General Election.

Jenny Watson, Chairman of the Commission said that anyone who has been registered to vote in Britain at any time during the last 15 years could vote.

But she said of the estimated 5.5 million expats fewer than 13,000 overseas voters were currently on the UK Electoral Role

"It is easier than ver before for British citizens abroad to keep in touch with friends, family and colleagues back home and many will also want their say in elections" she said.
