Statement by
the British Residents’ Society
The British Residents’ Society, whilst
disappointed that the appeal by Meletios Apostolodides was
allowed, is nevertheless still of the opinion that a resolution
of the property issue, for both Turkish and Greek Cypriots, can
only be brought about as part of a comprehensive settlement and
not by thousands of individual court cases.
The Society is
liaising with Embargoed in the UK and seeking an early meeting
with the Government of The Turkish Republic of North Cyprus for
confirmation of their stated intention to stand behind the
validity of issued title deeds and, in conjunction with the
Government of Turkey, to meet any claims for compensation.
A further
statement will be issued in due course.
